We meet in Hotel Villa Schuler, Taormina, for our traditional happy hour at 5 pm (17.00) on Saturday. Sunday and Monday we have time to explore Mount Etna, Taormina itself with it's greek/roman theatre and perhaps Messina or other villages nearby.
After breakfast Tuesday, we leave for Siracusa - a 125 km drive to the south. Rooms are reserved for three nights at Hotel Domus Maria Benessere. Spa treatments possible!
Siracusa offers a really large greek theatre, ruins of a roman arena, a Caravaggio painting, ruins of an Apollo temple from the 6th century BC and an archeological museum.
Having explored the island of Ortigia in Siracusa, and perhaps the near by village Noto, we leave for Castellamare del Golfo on Thursday. Rooms are reserved at Hotel Cala Marina. We recommend a stop in Villa Romana del Casale i little bit south of the town Piazza Armerina in the middle of Sicily. This roman villa offers marvellous floor mosaics from the 3rd and 4th century AD.
After two nights here, we say Arrivederci, but first we have to explore Segesta and Selinunte with the magnicent temples from the 5th century BC. Also the hilltop town Erica and the cathedra and cloister of Monreale are worth visiting.
For general information about Sicily, we recommend visiting
